New Relic Change Tracking Brings Headless Intelligent Observability Directly into GitHub Copilot, Empowering Developers to Ship Code with Confidence

GITHUB UNIVERSE— New Relic, the intelligent observability platform, today announced a suite of integrations for GitHub Copilot that bring continuous telemetry directly into developers’ workflows from coding through deployment. The integrations help engineers understand coding agent usage as they work, correlate AI and human-generated code deployments with real-time application performance, and address production issues before they escalate. Developers now get the full power of New Relic without ever having to log into a dashboard or leave GitHub.

New Relic Change Tracking for GitHub Copilot: Linking AI-generated code deployments to production performance for fast, reliable software delivery

AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot help teams produce code faster, but simply reviewing that code before deployment does not tell the whole story. New Relic’s 2026 State of AI Coding found that while 94% of leaders rated AI-generated code as higher quality at review time, 78% reported more incidents after deployment. Without immediate, in-context visibility into how newly deployed code affects downstream services, engineering teams are caught in a cycle of prolonged triage times when performance anomalies occur.

New Relic Change Tracking for GitHub Copilot solves this by connecting production telemetry directly with developers’ deployment workflows to minimize manual triage and speed up review cycles, helping engineers stay focused on their work. It continuously runs a pre-merge check against a baseline, a canary gate after deployment, or regression detection after deployment all against real-time performance data. This helps ensure any issues are remediated and code that merges is production-ready without interruption. The integration then automatically routes regressions to GitHub Issues and Copilot for fixes and sends updates to Slack.

“As AI accelerates development, engineers and agents need a shared understanding of how their software behaves in production,” said Camden Swita, Head of AI at New Relic. “While traditional observability locks critical data inside closed SaaS dashboards, headless New Relic brings trusted operational intelligence directly into the tools and workflows where software is built and delivered. The new GitHub integrations put that strategy into practice, helping teams understand the production impact of any deployment. Our vision is for observability to inform development decisions as they happen, giving engineers and AI agents the context they need to turn faster coding into reliable software delivery.”

New Relic also announced:

New Relic Autopilot integration for GitHub MCP Server: Bringing code context to incident response

Built on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, this integration connects New Relic’s Autopilot SRE agent to GitHub MCP Server. Autopilot can draw on a company’s codebase context as it triages alerts, identifies root causes, and recommends fixes—giving developers clearer guidance to resolve incidents faster and stay focused on their work.

New Relic Preflight integration for GitHub Copilot: Helping developers use coding Agents more efficiently for trustworthy innovation

New Relic Preflight is an open source capability that helps developers understand how they use coding agents during the coding process itself. It gives them visibility into how efficiently they are using those agents, issues with their usage, and errors during execution.

Developers can view real-time model efficiency, latency, and token consumption in their local integrated development environment (IDE) and command line interface (CLI). With this local telemetry in a unified view, teams can optimize costs, set up proactive alerts, and evaluate suggestion accuracy across different large language models.

New Relic Preflight helps developers understand coding agent usage while they work. New Relic Change Tracking and New Relic Autopilot extend visibility into deployment and incident response, helping teams maintain quality as AI accelerates development.
